Revenue of the leading dairy companies in Germany 2023

Germany is known for its wide variety of dairy products. DMK Deutsches Milchkontor was the most profitable company in this sector, generating around 5.5 billion euros worth of revenue. Other industry heavyweights include Müller and Hochwald.

Land of milk and honey

While per capita consumption of fresh dairy products in Germany has gradually decreased in recent years, it still amounted to roughly 82.5 kilos in 2023. Lower consumption levels may be influenced by various factors, such as changes in lifestyle and health choices or restrictions, as well as growing interest in alternatives to food that is sourced from animals. Milk continues to be the most consumed dairy product in Germany.

Export of diary

The export value of milk and dairy products has fluctuated recently, but still amounted to roughly 12 billion euros in 2023. Over the past ten years the export value has increased by roughly 37 percent, while the export volume has been generally decreasing in the same timeframe and amounted to around two million tons in 2023.
